Three years ago, I was introduced to The Body Shop store by one of my favorite Youtuber (I don't follow her anymore). It's a nice shop that sell a lot of body products from fragrance, soaps, shower gel and the list goes on and on. However, just like my devotion towards that Youtuber (who shall not be named), my support toward this store also dwindle and wasn't meant to last. By 2018 - I already become bored by it. It's sad that after spending almost $250 on this brand, I am so OVERRR it. As I was staring at the mountain pile on my paper bag (exactly 8 products left), my heart sank. Such adrenaline rush when I am unboxing the product for first time around feel so distant now.
The product itself wasn't entirely useless, but how I feel about it does. This situation brought my attention to my own spending habits. What was I thinking?? Ideally, I would walk away from buying anything anyone tells me to do, but then I thought to myself - why should I? Life is too short to be denying yourself with earthly pleasure. No matter how frustrated I am, I can't change what I love. I still want to look around for new shower gel to improve my showering experience or new fragrance mist to spray on my body because that is the kind of person I am.

Thankfully, Bath and Body Works come around right when I'm getting so used with Body Shop and desperate for a change. The emergence of retail shop around my area make me take a step inside, although I'm not certain on how I feel about their products. My 1st impression wasn't much either, though I won't deny that some of the products does smells good.
Still, the high price tag deter my interest from buying anything, but at this point my heart is open to try it out. At the time like this, an online store sounds like a good choice and I already found a reliable one to make my purchase from. Still, another issue arise... How do you purchase a fragrance mist from an online store, exactly? Is not like you can smell it. A catalog is as good as they're presented and I know better than not to judge a fragrance by its cover. So, the best thing I could is select a couple of smell I think I can tolerate and hope that my judgement doesn't suck.

The beauty of online store these days is that they offer you vouchers and cashback when you need it. You don't even have to wait for end of year sale anymore, a sale can happen anytime, anywhere - hell it could even happen right NOW as we speak! Therefore, it's very important to keep your eyes on these sales, especially if you had saved a lot on your wish list and dying to get those item on your hand. I have mine crossed-off almost every single month; thanks to those vouchers and cashback.
If there's a little trick I learn from buying from these online store is that; don't aim small, aim big. Don't settle anything less than 10% discount and always goes for well-known brand. Why? Quality, of course. Also, you would feel great after saving like $5 bucks than from buying at retail store. Though, not to drag any retail store name to the mud - they also have some great discount every now and then, but if you like that discount but also need your stuff asap - then online store is the way to go.

Below are some examples of how I had saved money from voucher, cashback, and discount hunting.
1st purchase: Online (Shopee.com, cashback 30% off)
Three. I am going to test the water by choosing these three products first. I am not going to think much of it... it's already 30% off. I am just going to buy it with a confidence that it won't suck. The parcel arrived, I open it. See these three products, along with a paper bag, two extra bag and mini snickers as a free gift. Cool, cool, cool... So, how is it going to smell like? Let's try...
The first product that I tested is the Winter Candy Apple fragrance mist. Spray it on me and the result was immediately .... amazing! I love it right off the bat. I always love apple scent ever since I was a child, so this really reminded me off my childhood so much. Anyway, love it. Next, I tried the hand sanitizer. I tried the Merry & Bright first, and oh boy - it smell good. The scent lasted more than fifteen minutes each time I applied it and with the price I am getting, I couldn't really complain. Last but not least is the French Lavender. It smells weird at first, but eventually my brain gets used to the scent and now it's my favorite to go sanitizer whenever I need it. I get these three items along with 30% off and I am fully satisfied with everything I got.

2nd purchase: Retail store (semi annual sales, 60% off)
After my first purchase, I decide to re-visit the retail store in hope that there would be some sort of sale going on. I don't register to their newsletter, so I don't know if they were - but the moment I got there; semi annual sales, 60% off is definitely going on. Most of the stuff such as candle already sold out but I manage to get a couple of things. Also, as I was tired from searching and inspecting their product, I decide to stop by McDonald nearby to redeem their complimentary ice-cream.
I got my desirable item from Bath and Body work for 60% off. I also get this free McDonald ice-cream complimentary of Hotlink Red Maxis Deal. |
My final purchase of this year. (Hopefully) |
Anyway, as you guys already know... I looove Winter Candy Apple fragrance mist so much so I get it in a large size this time around. I also wanted to try Victoria Secret (PINK) range because I was curious of the smell. Turns out, I made a right desicion about Winter Candy Apple, but my PINK reaction is more of a meh. The scent wasn't unique to me (I was reminded of someone else wearing it) and I am kinda regretted purchasing it.
Aside from that, I also added another 3 hand sanitizer into my collection. My reasoning for that is simple... Coz it made my life easier and smell really, really good. Also, I got these sanitizer at great deal so that would be stupid of me trying to pass it down, nor to mention - the cashbacks that I also getting is pretty awesome (nearly RM9.00).
So that'a it guys for my Bath amd Body Work buying experience. I'm sure if I live in America I would have gotten a better deal than pictured in here, but since I don't - I gotta take what I can get. A couple percentage of discount is better than nothing. Anyway, I had fallen deeper in love with Bath and Body Works since December last year and at this rate - I am not sure if it's going to stop. After some head count, this is what I had obtain from my Bath & Body Works shopping spree...
8 Hand Sanitizer
(French Lavender, Merry & Bright, Peach Bellini, Mad About You, Sweet Pea, Like A Confetti, Spread Sparkle, & Pink Cashmere)

Mimi.
1 Winter Candy Apple Shower Gel
1 Winter Candy Apple Body Lotion
1 PINK Urban Bouquet Fragrance Mist
1 PINK Love Haze Fragrance Mist

Well, that ought to last me for an entire year. I know 4 fragrance mist and 8 sanitizer seems like a lot (after all, it's not like I smell really, really bad that I need a constant perfume for my body or my home sink is broken that I couldn't wash my hand like a normal person), but I do enjoy most of the scent I got and think it a good bargain. Also, I am so obsessed with their Winter Candy Apple range that I couldn't think about wearing other fragrance on my body right now (my feelings might change later on, but I'm still not over it as we speak).
Now that I understand what the hype is all about - it almost impossible to go back and not acknowledging this brand. It's truly had had left an impression on me and I am sure if there's more scent that just waiting to be discovered. I wonder what scent should I get next? Should I go to its sister company, Victoria Secret fragrance mist (now that's an idea) and try it out? Whatever it is, I need to finish everything I had purchase on this spree or else this shall end up on a massive pile just like The Body Shop.

This has been a real fun. Thanks Bath and Body Works. You truly show me what you got (in a good way).
Yours truly,
